Tumbling circle inspection on plug connections

Solutions K Fallstudien K Tumbling circle inspection on plug connections

Initial situation

Due to the constantly increasing electrification in many industrial sectors and the associated quality requirements for the connectors, testing of the assemblies has become essential.

The correct assembly of the pins must be guaranteed to ensure subsequent contacting. The measurement of the individual pins is carried out by means of the so-called tumbling circle test, i.e. the pin must be within a certain tolerance.

Implementation

The heart of the machine vision system consists of a telecentric lens in connection with an illumination combination, which is placed above the component to be inspected.

Even in the case of production-related fluctuations of the pins, an optimal image recording can be generated, which is reflected in the measuring accuracy of the entire system. If necessary, the system is also able to control the individual lighting combinations and combine the image captures as required.

Parameters

  • Testing time: approx. 0.5s
  • Capable of measuring
  • SQL connection

Customer benefits

As a result of the visualization, the system operator receives detailed information regarding the respective measurements.

Via the statistics module, min and max values are determined, quality parameters are displayed and a trend curve of the measurements is visualized via the graphical display. The operator can thus directly influence his production parameters and optimize the process.
